The Seattle Firefighters Pipes & Drums had the sad honor of playing 18 year old Andrew (Andy) Palmer, of Port Townsend, memorial service . Andy was assigned to an engine crew at the Olympic National Park in Port Angeles, Wa. He was killed on his first wildland fire deployment in California on July 25, 2008. …
Dave Potter (Puyallup, WA)
Dave Potter had been a dedicated fire fighter in Puyallup, Washington, for 16 years in 2005 when he learned he had T-cell Lymphocytic Leukemia. Potter contracted the cancer as a result of dangerous toxins he had been exposed to on the job. The SFP&D was very proud to participate in this Brother’s Service.
Eric Lyons (Kennewick, WA)
A 13-year veteran with the Kennewick Fire Department died suddenly early July 5, 2007 while on duty. Firefighters from across the state are mourning the loss of Eric Lyons, 38.
Fire Chief Dan Packer
The Seattle Firefighters Pipes and Drums were honored to play for a fallen brother twice in one week . East Pierce County Fire Chief Dan Packer was killed while scouting a wildfire on July 26th, 2008. Chief Packer deployed his emergency shelter but succumbed to smoke and heat. Battalion Chief James Scragg passed away peacefully at the age of 54, surrounded by friends and family. Chief Scragg bravely battled line of duty lung cancer for 2 years before going home. Jesse Youngs, Chief (Seattle FD)
Seattle firefighters mourn Deputy Chief Jesse Youngs, 53 Seattle firefighters on Thursday held a memorial for Deputy Chief Jesse Youngs, who died Oct. 22 after battling brain cancer. Marty Hauer
SFP&D was honored to play Kent Firefighter Marty Hauer’s LODD funeral on Tuesday. Marty was 41 and succumbed to job related cancer. He was a husband, father of 2, IAFF Peer Fitness Trainer and fireman. Rest in peace, Marty.
