Spencer Nelson (Pipe Major)
It was Spencer’s initial goal to provide high quality sounds and service to honor the region’s Fallen Firefighters, Police Officers and Military. Alongside other dedicated Members from his Recruit Training class, Spencer’s energy and experience quickly produced the unique traditional music presence he envisioned. Eddie Nelson
Eddie’s Membership with the SFP&D extends from 2005 til present. Eddie’s 25 years of service with the SFD has placed him aboard busy Companies which includes Company Officer (Lieutenant) on Ladder 12 in the Rainier Valley. Garth Stroyan (Pipe Corporal)
Garth has been Piping since 2005 with the SFP&D, and as Pipe Corporal is tasked with the scheduling of Solo Pipers for many Memorial Events. Assigned to Ladder Company 12, nestled in the bucolic Rainier Valley district of Seattle.
Hilton Almond
Hill came to us in 2006 as an accomplished Piper from Henrico County FD, Virginia. Hill also provides tutelage for new Members learning to play the Pipes. Assigned to Engine Company 13 which is in Seattle’s Beacon Hill district.
Jimmy Watts
Jimmy has graced the SFP&D Pipe Section since 2006. Assigned to Ladder Company 12 in the Rainier Valley district.
Karl Zapf
Karl has been an IAFF Member since 2000, Piping with us since 2007, and is our current Treasurer. Most People have to refer to Google, Merriam Webster or the Bible to settle disputes concerning world History, we have Karl. Very handy in the Band Bus for settling major disagreements. Les Davis
Les has been with our Band since 2005. He has enjoyed a 37 year career with the Fire Service Retiring August 2013, Les wants to encourage SFD Retired Members in joining the SFP&D.
Luke Schultz (Pipe Sergeant and Band President)
Luke is also a Member of the founding group. As a Lieutenant, Luke is assigned to the Waterfront Station #5
Mark Colley
Mark Colley joined us in 2007 As a Firefighter Paramedic, Mark responds all over the City on each of the Department’s seven Medic Units. His Department Tenure includes a multi-year assignment with Engine Company 25 on Capitol Hill. Like most Members of our Band, Mark has an exceptional work ethic.
Mark Place
Mark has been with the Band since 2006, initially in the Drum corps as a Bass Drummer, yielding to his desires to play the Pipes in 2009. Assigned to the Technical Rescue Team at SFD Station 14, in the SODO district, places Mark Place as one of the Department’s experts in almost any form of …
